I share your belief. On the other hand, we should not be too hard on ourselves.

Absolutely, I agree. Being to hard on yourself is counterproductive and a terrible place to get stuck in. I use the regret phrase to remind myself to be a little more adventurous. I have a tendency to be a stick in the mud.
