Yesterday I noticed that many of my images, some on recent posts, were gone. The posts are still there absent of the images, as most know images are the blog. Today I contacted WordPress support via “chat” which is the only expedient way allowed for my plan. The “Happiness Engineer” confirmed that indeed 500 images had been deleted by ME in the last month or two. I said the only images I’ve ever deleted were 115 duplicates in my media library, why would I delete images and leave the post title, likes and comments. He insisted it was me and that was that.
After 11 years of WordPress blogging I’m more amused than aggravated but for obvious reasons I’ll no longer be posting here. I’ll keep my account and visit my friends post and anyone interested can find my latest work on instagram.com/M.Caimbeul
I’m so sorry for you. and it will be a loss for me too. I don’t use Instagram or other social media except Facebook. I’ve only had my WP Blog since late 2018 but you’ve been a part of my daily routine since I started. I’m saddened to hear this but I wish you the best always. ❤ Take good care my good friend.

Obviously there’s some sort of glitch and I’m sorry that it happened. Didn’t you have an issue about double photos or something a bit ago that used up all your storage space?

I did Buddy and mentioned that but this particular rep wasn’t interested and had the attitude that I didn’t know anything about managing my blog 😏 I didn’t pursue arguing with him or mentioning I was a retired medical engineer who had a brilliant computer engineer on staff and we developed our own specialized programs. Why bother, sometimes it’s just best to disengage.

Okay I couldn’t remember It probably has to do with that photo glitch you had. And yes you’re right, it’s best to disengage.

You’re right anyone can click the above link for viewing without joining, they just won’t be able to interact with the site. Thanks

That’s sad and so typical. Somebody screwed up, blame the victim. Here’s hoping you kept back up copies on a remote hard drive or thumb drive. 500 images is a lot, but since the actual posts are still up, could you re-insert the images in them (if you have them, that is)?
There’s also “Blogger” if you wanted to use a different blogging vehicle…

Yeah, there are lots of alternatives. Micro.blog might be worth looking into if you don’t want to use one of the big monolith platforms. Sorry to see you go.

Cool. Just make sure you export regularly. It is owned by Facebook, who haven’t always proved to be trustworthy. 🙂

I probably could Sha’ but I’ve rather had it with WordPress, it just isn’t worth it anymore. I’m not a Facebook fan but I have to say Instagram for my purposes is easier and far superior to WordPress and there’s no cost.

Sorry to hear that! WordPress usually give great service.

Yeah I was rather surprised at their apathetic response and to claim they lack the ability to remove things (even accidentally) is B.S. if I’d posted an image of my naked as how long do you think it would stay up.😆

My friend, I’m sorry that you’re leaving us here on WordPress. I don’t have and Instagram account and truly cannot find the time to join another platform. I’m thankful for this opportunity I’ve had to get to know you through your beautiful, expressive, and creative doodles. I wish you success in your new virtual home ❤

I’m deeply disturbed at how the “Happiness Engineer” handled your situation. Sometimes a personal touch is necessary. Unfortunately, the deep automation in the World today has resulted in a decline of civilization.

So true isn’t it we have allowed for a large decline in service from many companies. I simply see it as the way of the mystical winds so I’m not all that bothered. I certainly appreciate your comment, thanks. Mike

Hi. Sorry to hear your leaving. Just loved your work. have you checked that your work hasn’t been scrapped and harvested by another illegal site. Here is a point of reference from my News Archive that might be of assistance. Check out in particular the free site check Copyscape.

Hey Goff thanks very much for the information, I’ll check that out. I recently started a Squarespace site and am very pleased with their service.

As a former computer programmer and project manager of almost 100 applications, I can say that the WordPress software is bug ridden piece of S!?$!
The help desk, putting it loosely, is in the same pile!

Thanks for the professional validation Hal. I recently created a Squarespace website and a dramatic difference to WordPress. It’s about $50.00 more per year but: excellent knowledge base, 24/7 help and far less pedantic to use. They acknowledge sites can be hacked and offer extra security measures, images can get lost and how to try and retrieve them. In other straight forward honesty without hiding behind “denial.” Thanks again my friend.

Wow! Sad they treated you this way, Mike, and after 11 years too! Well, I’m following you now on Instagram. And I’ll check out Squarespace too in due course. Actually, I’m not very happy with WordPress myself but for other reasons. As for my work, 99.99 % of the images I post exist as ‘hard copies’ so maybe there is something still to be said for the ‘old-fashioned’ pre-digital forms of creative activity… Best wishes to you, Mike.

You would think there could be a “cloud” or something else for backup in cases like this. Sad to see you go but will touch base on the instas.

That’s unfortunate. I wish I could help. The solution could be to simply upload a select number of images to get things back up to speed. Maybe upload images to the last 10 to 20 posts and move forward from there. Also, consider it is a new year and simply start the process of rebuilding with new posts and new images.

Thanks Henry those are all excellent ideas and the latter is appealing. I’m not upset just hesitant in posting images. I recently created a Squarespace website I’m enjoying, we’ll see how that goes.
